Pem Dorjee Sherpa is a renowned Nepalese–American mountaineer, guide, and community leader originally from Chyangba village in the Solukhumbu region of Nepal. He has summited Mount Everest twice and famously married his wife, Moni Mulepati, at the summit in 2005—the first couple to do so, earning a Guinness World Record. With over 30 years of experience, Pem is a licensed trekking and mountaineering guide. The Himalayan Bazaar in the U.S. Beyond guiding, he is deeply committed to social work in Nepal, leading projects to build schools, libraries, and clean water systems, and organizing medical camps in remote areas. He played a major role and supported many initiatives through nonprofits like the Himalayan Yokpu Foundation, Tsering’s Fund, and Musa Masala. Now based in the U.S. with his family, Pem continues to promote education, healthcare, and responsible tourism while inspiring others through public speaking and advocacy.
